Bendito Boanova Mantato is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward or a fullback for the academy of Manchester United.[3]

Club career

[edit]

Mantato joined Manchester United aged nine, in 2017.[4] Since then, he has progressed through various youth levels, and is currently part of the U18 team.[5]

On 28 February, 2025, Mantato scored a 99th minute winner against Arsenal in the FA Youth Cup quarterfinals to help United win the game 3–2.[6]

International career

[edit]

Of Angolan descent, Mantato is eligible to play for the Angola national team. However, born in England, he has chosen to represent the Three Lions at youth level,[7] making appearances for the U15, U16, and U17 teams.[8] He was first called up to the U15 team by coach Will Antwi in 2023.[citation needed]

Style of play

[edit]

Often likened to Bukayo Saka for his playstyle,[9] Mantato has been described as a player who "has bundles of pace, plays with high intensity, and whose dribbling is a huge asset" [10] and as a "versatile player with impressive size for his age and a strong technical base".[11]
