35°25′07″N 77°15′17″W / 35.41861°N 77.25472°W / 35.41861; -77.25472Calico is an unincorporated community in Pitt County, North Carolina, United States.[1] It is located 16 miles (26 km) south of Greenville along North Carolina Highway 102.
History
A post office called Calico was established in 1882, and remained in operation until 1902.[2] Calico was so named on account of the community being a trading point where calico was sold.[3]
