Biography
[edit]Christina Siouti specialises in the defensive position. She is a member of Olympiacos Piraeus, with whom she has achieved significant success, including winning the Greek Championship, the Greek Cup, the Euroleague, and the European Super Cup in 2021.[1]
Siouti began her athletic career as a swimmer at Milonas Neas Smyrnis. At the age of eleven, during a multi-sport summer camp, her aptitude for water polo was identified by a coach who encouraged her to pursue the sport competitively.[2]
She has represented Greece at youth international level, contributing to the national team's silver medals at both the European Junior Championship in Šibenik and the World Youth Championship in Netanya. Her role as a defender, particularly against opposing centre-forwards, is regarded as demanding and is relatively rare among young athletes, enhancing the value of her contributions.[1]
In April 2025, Siouti played a key role in the Greece women's national team's triumph at the World Cup in China, where the team secured the gold medal following a victory over Hungary in the final. Siouti was instrumental in the final, scoring three goals and helping to secure Greece's first-ever World Cup title in women's water polo.[3]
