Startzville is an unincorporated community in Comal County, Texas, United States.[1] According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 30 in 2000. It is located within the Greater San Antonio area.

History

Members of the Startz family built a little store and opened it in 1935. The community started to expand around 1964 after the neighboring Canyon Dam was completed. A large portion of the land near the lake was developed as residential subdivisions, even though the population of Startzville proper was only estimated to be 30 in 1966. Startzville saw the establishment of numerous companies aimed at catering to the wider Canyon Lake community. Thirty people called the community home in 1990. The population did not change in 2000. The development of additional developments in the vicinity of Canyon Lake contributed to the community's explosive growth in the years that followed. Estimates of the population put it at 5,000 in 2009 and 7,000 in 2016.[2]

On April 20, 2023, a high-end EF0 tornado near Startzville inflicted minor roof or siding damage to some homes and snapped or uprooted many trees.[3]
