Taru Tarubi is a 2024 Manipuri film directed by Hemanta Khuman.[1][2] The film is written and produced by Somorjit Roma Yengkhom under the banner of Roma Production.[3] Suraj Ngashepam and Soma Laishram star as the leads. The film was released at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) on 26 December 2024. The movie was premiered at the 2nd North East India Film Festival, Manipur on 12 February 2025 under the non-competition section (NEIFF Spectrum).[4][5][6]

The movie was screened at Tanthapolis Cinema, Lamphel for 2 weeks from 14 March 2025.[7]

Plot

Namiba's and Taru's parents come together for engagement. But religious differences comes into play as a roadblock to their hope for a shared destiny. The film also explores the grandparents' love for their grandchildren.

Soundtrack

Kim Irom and Surmani (Rishi) composed the soundtrack for the film and Somorjt Roma Yengkhom wrote the lyrics. Aj Maisnam, Pushparani Huidrom and Pinky Saikhom are the playback singers of the songs. The songs are titled Eise Nanggi Oikhare, Karigumba Nangse and Luhongba Loire.
