Kolumbiarek[2] (Handleyomys) – rodzaj ssaków z podrodziny bawełniaków (Sigmodontinae) w obrębie rodziny chomikowatych (Cricetidae).
Zasięg występowania
Rodzaj obejmuje gatunki występujące w Meksyku, Gwatemali, Hondurasie, Salwadorze, Nikaragui, Kostaryce, Panamie, Kolumbii i Ekwadorze[3][4][5].
Morfologia
Długość ciała (bez ogona) 80–151 mm, długość ogona 75–150 mm, długość ucha 10–22 mm, długość tylnej stopy 10–33 mm; masa ciała 17–55 g[4][6].
Systematyka
Rodzaj zdefiniował w 2002 roku międzynarodowy zespół teriologów (Amerykanin Robert S. Voss, Kolumbijka Marcela Gómez-Laverde i Peruwianin Víctor Pacheco) na łamach American Museum novitates[1]. Na gatunek typowy autorzy wyznaczył (oryginalne oznaczenie) kolumbiarka białostopego (H. intectus).
Etymologia
Handleyomys: Charles O. Handley, Jr. (1924–2000), zoolog i podróżnik, który przeprowadził różne wyprawy dla rządu Stanów Zjednoczonych; gr. μυς mus, μυoς muos ‘mysz’[1].
